The shade is made of a composite material of winding threads of glass fiber.
They pick up the light making a calm atmosphere of sparkles, which is the concept behind MAYUHANA.
This soft and original expression of light creates new spaces which have never been conceived before.
The design was by the world famous Japanese architect Toyo Ito.
The MAYUHANA is made as if cocoons were making threads and winding them together.
This lamp gives hints of the traditional Bonbori lamps, with the light going through 2,3 shades making it softer.

It was featured in the Yamagiwa Lighting Design 2007 which was held in Milano.
This MAYUHANA is like a double cocoon. The center lamp sends the light which the shades make into a beautiful gradation.
